Where Should Our Focus Be

Where should our focus be as Christ’s Church in 2021? Consider the following Scriptures below, and let us ask ourselves, has “the aim of our charge” changed from when the apostle Paul was inspired by the Holy Spirit to pen these words to Pastor Timothy over 1900 years ago as they considered some challenges in their local assembly? May we not deviate from its Truth regardless of the generation in which we live.

1 Timothy 1:3-5 [ESV-amplified by PA]

“As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus so that you may charge [admonish] certain persons not to teach any different doctrine, 4 nor to devote themselves to myths [mythos—false beliefs that are deceptive, justifying ungodly behavior] and endless genealogies, which promote speculations [ungodly questioning] rather than the stewardship from God that is by faith [“stewardship” is oikonomian—an orderly plan for household management, here for the household of faith, an orderly plan for advancing the Gospel]. 5The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.”
